Here I am, back with another blog post! I have to say that I'm feeling really inspired lately and I'm getting better with posting regularly. Writing is like therapy for me, and today, I'd like to share my thoughts on getting out of your comfort zone and all the reasons why doing it will be so worth it in the end!
There are so many things I secretly dream of doing, yet I don't have the guts to do. These could be classified into two main categories. Things that would be considered dangerous and things that I stop myself from doing because I'm not confident enough to do them.
That being said, I got much better at this comfort zone thing over the years and cannot even compare what I'm like now and how insecure I was years ago!
Below are some pointers on how to put yourself out there more (based on my experiences) & reasons why doing so feels extremely liberating and fulfilling!
Do something that scares you
I don’t necessarily mean skydiving or bungee jumping. Start with something small, e.g. picking up a conversation with a cute stranger, volunteering to do a presentation in front of your colleagues at work etc.
Think about what you will get out of this experience
Ask yourself how putting yourself out there will benefit you, in order to encourage yourself; e.g. if you have the guts to do that presentation, you will impress your boss and lay down the foundation for your next promotion.
Visualize your success
Have you ever heard about the law of attraction? One important part of it is visualizing your goal and the positive emotions you will feel once you accomplish it. Some relevant feelings, in this case, would be pride, liberation, freedom, self-fulfillment and a huge boost in confidence as you've just proven to yourself what you're capable of if you really put your mind to it.
In times of weakness, remind yourself that you’re doing this for you, in order to grow. There can be no growth without risk.
People don't care as much as you think they do
You might find yourself remembering and reliving an embarrassing situation for years despite the fact that in the majority of cases, no one else remembers about it anymore. They have their lives and problems to worry about so unless you really go overboard, they'll forget/won't care about it after a while. And it’s better to try and fail rather than not try at all.

These are some general pointers that helped me personally. If there’s anything you’d like to add to the list, please tell me in the comments below! There are no right and wrong answers here, just lessons learned from past experiences.
